The past few nights I spent at my parents' house. And as the title suggests, I had some weird dreams. These two I remember with more detail than any other.
The first one was a few nights ago so I don't remember too much but I was running from someone or chasing someone. What I do remember was that it was very stressful and there was a lot of pressure weighing on me to get away from or catch this person. Weird that I cannot, for the life of me remember which it is. All I remember is the immense amount of pressure. I didn't feel like I, or any other person was going to die, just a lot was riding on the outcome of this pursuit.
The other was either last night or the night before (whenever I say that I always think "24 robbers came a-knockin' at my door). And basically, again there was some kind of immense pressure ... but I was at a beach of some kind. It was a very popular beach and I was there with some friends but then I met up some other people that I knew as well. I was this awesome surfer (of course this is my dream) that was catching some waves at one end of the beach, and then walked over to the other side where I met more people. Some how, I got wind that there was going to be this gigantic wave but not in a good way. To the point where it would wash people away. And for some reason, no one knew but me and also no one believed me. So I had to race back over to warn every one but by that time the waves had started getting bigger and bigger and washing up on the shore farther and farther up. People just thought it was the tide but something was wrong. So I kept telling people to get off the beach but instead of evacuating, they just laughed and kept going further up. And then I couldn't find my own stuff, like my board, phone, clothes.... It was weird. The next thing I remember is that I'm looking literally into a wave and I see a whale and a shark. It's like a wall of water. If you've seen Evan Almighty it's like that scene when the wave comes up to wash over the ark.
Anyway, it's safe to say that my dreams were about pressure. And no wonder. I take the MCAT for the third and final time this week. After this, it's over. I call it quits on my dreams of being a physician. Le sigh. no pressure right? bleh

Dream recap(s)
So if you know me personally, you will know that I have never personally experienced a deja vu. Ever. I know what it is and everything I just have never had that experience. I have people describe it to me when it happens (and I always think of the Friends episode where Phoebe says, "I think I'm getting a deja vu..." and then Monica is like whatever and then repeats herself and then Phoebe exclaims, "There it is!!!!" Hahhah. 'Twas such a great show) but I can confirm that I've never felt it.
However last night, I can't remember my dream completely but I know in my dream I experienced a deja vu. Does that count? Something was happening and I remember in my dream I said, "Woah, I think this is my first deja vu!" BUT I woke up in my dream and thought (as I was actually still really dreaming), "Wait, is this a deja vu? Because I had a dream about a deja vu?" AND THEN I woke up for reals and was really confused. And tired. Haha
Last week I also had my first work dream. I was sitting and papers were "raining" and I was able to grab a couple and they were the forms that we use at work. Sigh. Le sad.
Why can't I have normal fantastic dreams? Honestly, I'd even appreciate a nightmare... Okay maybe I should knock on wood...

A dream is a wish your heart makes... and mine came true!
Yes. Yes. It's true. I just quoted Cinderella. Why? Well first of all because it's a freaking great movie (notice how I did not qualify it as a good cartoon movie. It's a good movie period) but also because I have remembered that lyric since I first saw it on VHS when I was a wee lass. A small part of me has always wanted to be famous. Doesn't matter how (okay well for something good not for being an eejit nor evil) but yeah. There was a period of time where I wanted to be an actress then that quickly faded because I have a terrible memory and get really nervous around good looking people, male or female. Then I wanted to be a musician, but that quickly faded because I suck at making music. Then I wanted to produce music, but that faded because my conscious got a better hold of me and said, "Really? You're going to waste your God given talents and do that?" Which isn't entirely true but yeah.
As you can see, music is a huge part of my life. I've grown up around music, thanks to my father, and have a firm base in the oldies (50's and 60's music) as well as funk (thanks to my sister), started taking piano lessons at age 5 and then violin at 9 or 10 (I can't remember when I made the switch because my brain has blocked out the painful memories), and was in choir in high school. I worked for Capitol Records in undergrad (starting out as a street teamer and also I cheated on them and street teamed for Epitaph as well) and loved every second of it.
Another weird fact about me? (And I actually don't know the reasoning behind this) I love award shows. (I promise this is going somewhere.) I don't have as much time to watch them now. But before, man, I used to plan my weekends around them! Or I would record them and watch later. Something about people being raw I guess? Again, no idea why but that is the case. Put this fact and the paragraph before this together and you get the fact that the Grammy Awards are basically my favorite awards show.
So why these random tidbits about me now? Well yesterday I received a phone call during chemistry lecture but I wasn't able to pick up (for obvious reasons). They left a number but I saw the number calling so I googled it. It was Capitol Records! Immediately I assumed they wanted me to do something in San Francisco (or somewhere else in the Bay Area... some really awesome shows are coming up) so I didn't think much about it. Until I remembered that they left a voice message. I listened to it and what was it? A congratulatory call about me and a friend GOING TO THE GRAMMY AWARDS! (yes that required all caps).
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I knew I had chemistry lab in a couple hours but SCREW IT. I called my sister, then my mom (to see if she'd freak out and forbid me to go which she didn't to my surprise), then my best friend Serina. The talk with Serina was pretty hilarious. It was almost as if she was angry. Oh I should clarify, that Serina is my most musically inclined friend. Not just a fan like me, but a true to the word, in every sense of the word, musician. She plays multiple instruments, has a phenomenal voice, has perfect pitch, and beat boxes (haha yes I had to throw that in there). The conversation went something like this:
Me: Hey dood guess what my big news is. (I had left a message earlier telling her to call ASAP and that I had big news).
Her: I honestly have no idea.
Me: I just won tickets to the Grammy Awards.
Her: What the fu.....?
Me: YEAH DOOD.
Her: Wait, explain.
Me: (I told her the whole story)
Her: What the fuck?
Me: I KNOW BUDDY! So.... wanna come with?
Her: FUCK YEAH.
Okay. So usually I wouldn't post expletives on but it was just TOO funny. I was laughing pretty hard. Also, I haven't really heard her drop the F-bomb that many times in a span of like 2 minutes so it was pretty funny. But you can see why this news is of great magnitude for the both of us. Both of the dreams that our hearts wished (completely independently of each other) came true.
I have another blogspot entitled "Yeah, I win stuff" at the address http://iwinstuff.blogspot.com/ which will more than likely be the primary recap of this night. So I encourage you, all 2 of you who read this, to go there after the Grammy's (probably Wednesday-ish) to see what my experience was like. Only if you really want to though. Haha.

Dream recap#2
My most vivid dream last night? Started out with just panels of the cartoon "Luann." I'm guessing you're wondering why on earth would "Luann" even be in subconscious... Well. The truth? I still read the comics section of the newspaper (read: real newspaper, San Jose Mercury News) everyday. Or at least I try. Judge me all you want but I've been doing since I was a wee child. Okay maybe since I could read. And my favorites have been "Calvin and Hobbes" (before Bill Watterson stopped writing new ones for the paper in 1995) and "Garfield" (which I actively searched for in the library for my one "fun" book when my mom would allow me one out of the fifteen she made me read over the summer. Okay fifteen is an exaggeration but that's what it felt like).
Anyway, "Luann" hasn't been a favorite per se, but I do enjoy how she basically has aged over time with me. And she went through her boy issues with Aaron, Gunther, and others (now an Aussie which I think is hilarious!) kind of the same time I went through mine so yeah. I identify with a cartoon character who is apparently completely fictional, go ahead and judge.
Back to the dream. Honestly, all I can remember was the fact that it started out with what seems like now just zoom-ins on different panels of the cartoon but over the time span of my dream, the characters became animated and Brad Degroot and Toni Daytona were having a fight and T.J. and I were off on the side making "peanut gallery" type commentary. Luann was there too but mostly just as a wall character watching everything happen.
Then I woke up. I know this wasn't that captivating but it was just weird to me that I dreamed in comic strip format AND it's my first dream that I can remember dreaming in black and white... Ah the interwebs. The place to document my firsts.

Dream recap#1
So let me start this one off by saying, I have crazy vivid dreams. Okay well everyone dreams (don't say you don't, you do but you just don't remember them) but I dream very vividly and with a ton of color. Oh and I've only had 2 nightmares in my life that I can remember. I have never had a recurring dream that I can remember. I know. I'm weird.
So one of my dreams last night (and also you dream multiple dreams a night but usually only remember one or two, so I've heard from psychologists) was definitely set in Cupertino but it didn't look like it. Well it was on Stevens Creek and Tantau or whatever that street that Cupertino High is on but yeah. I was driving in my former burgundy old school Ford Explorer along this road on my way home blasting music and singing along. Of course in my own dream, I was amazing at singing and was rocking it. But then I got this call from my dad saying be careful. And then the next thing I remember in my dream is feeling very creeped out and weird. The street was completely empty. So I say it didn't look like Cupertino because it definitely was Stevens Creek but there was a big hill that I had to go up and down. As my car was climbing up the hill I saw a kid on the side of a street. Let me clarify, this kid was a boy, no more than 14. As I got closer I realized that he had a rifle in his hand so I slunk down in my seat as far as I could but still able to see over the dashboard. This was near the top of the hill. Then as I passed him I said to myself, "What the eff is a kid doing out of school with a gun? What the hell is going on?" But then as I was going down the hill I saw a line of people by on the street being herded by a bunch of other kids, boys and girls alike, around the same age all with semi-automatic guns. Some were handguns, but most were uzis and stuff. I decided to turn on the news and heard about some kids who went crazy over unfair homework load and other issues and decided to round up their teachers and kill them. It was happening in Cupertino but I kept hearing Oakland in my dream. I was super confused until I think I got home and finally it somehow became clear that the "movement" started in Oakland and had just made it's way down to the South Bay because of the Asian kids being super overstressed and realizing that this wasn't the way education should happen. Oh I forgot to say that the kids were also shooting at cars that looked like they had adults driving them which was another reason why I slunk down in my car (so I'd look like a kid) and there was a weird moment of the kid looking into my car and trying to decide if I was an adult or not.
Would you classify that as a nightmare? I guess so? I wasn't all that scared I guess? The two nightmares I've had are MUCH worse. Maybe another day I'll write about those too...
